Motivated by the desire to cultivate meaningful intercultural dialogue through the visual arts in the Euro-Mediterranean region, and committed to leveraging the capabilities of modern social media outreach for amplified impact, this initiative holds significant relevance for fostering Intercultural Dialogue. By inviting two artists from the Mediterranean’s complementary shores, it enables a rich exchange of perspectives and ideas. Through their residency, these artists engage in deep dialogue, sharing insights on art’s role in their societies. Moreover, showcasing their work to wider audiences deepens understanding of each other’s cultures.  It exposes selected artists to new audiences: Thus, the initiative addresses multiple targets, broadening cultural horizons and promoting cross-cultural appreciation in the visual arts domain.

The Artists

Sandrine Deumier is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toulouse, France. With a background in both philosophy and art, Deumier’s work spans digital poetry, text, multimedia installations, and audio-visual performances, often in collaboration with composers.

Sandrine Deumier is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in performance, poetry, and video art. Her work delves into post- futurist themes by exploring aesthetic forms connected to digital imaginaries. With a keen interest in interactive storytelling, Deumier has spent several years creating poetic and visual narratives that explore the imaginaries of living beings. Central to her work are ecological concerns and speculative futures, as she seeks to envision new ways of inhabiting the world through technology, guided by an animist perspective that prioritises the preservation of natural balances over predation, accumulation, and endless growth

Key achievements: 2021 Winners of the Festival Platform Awards (Dome Theatre Category) at the Japan Media Arts Festival with the immersive 360° audiovisual project L’alter-Monde in collaboration between Deumier and the composer Myriam Bleau.
