Celebrating the Day of the Mediterranean with 2 special performances.
In a world where voices can often feel silenced, music becomes a bridge—a powerful expression that
transcends all barriers, borders, and languages, connecting us in ways words cannot.
The Member States of the “Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean” have declared November 28th
as the ‘Day of the Mediterranean’ – a day dedicated to cherishing our shared identity, embracing our
common heritage, and nurturing the love we hold for the enchanting Mediterranean. It’s a day where the
ties between its two shores grow stronger, and intercultural exchanges flourish.
The event will begin with a 25-minute Hungarian folk dance performance by the local Barkócaberkenye group, featuring couples aged 5 to 20 dancing in traditional Hungarian folk costumes.
This will be followed by a one-hour musical concert by the Kobza Vajk Group. Kobza and his ensemble have been among the most exciting performers in the contemporary Oriental and improvisational world music scene for over a decade and a half. Their music lies at the intersection of the modal traditions of the Middle East, the freedom of European jazz, the heritage of ancient melodies, and the desire to explore new pathways. His vision is to elevate the music created in the present moment to a higher level, leaving behind genre classifications, made even more thrilling by the unusual instrumentation and unique soundscape. Their performance is a conscious, unparalleled journey into the familiar unknown.
